Lanyang River Mouth Waterbird Refuge

Lanyang River Mouth is the main refuge for migratory birds in eastern Taiwan. It could be the best place to observe birds in this area. It is because over 231 species of birds were recorded in the refuge, exceeding half of the total species recorded in Taiwan. Wood sandpiper, green-winged teal, spotbill duck and pintail is classic type of bird in this area. And Laridae Family can be found in Lanyang Lanyang River Mouth all year long.

In addition to providing migratory birds an estuary for food and rest, Lanyang River Mouth also offers the birds fallow farm and fish ponds on the South and North coast, and abandoned wetland for temporary shelter when the estuary is flooded by rising tide.
